The course for the Road Race in Christchurch was challenging and yet rewarding. The hill and the increasing head winds made the day a tough one but the motivation the riders could soak up from the crowds made the groveling hill assent 7 times a little bit more bearable!
This course is the best National's courses I have raced. The nature of this course meant the strongest riders prevailed and although it hurt a lot it was great to battle the Christchurch winds and the famous Cashmere Hills and finish feeling that I had accomplished a great day on the bike.

Message from The Christchurch Mayor Bob Parker:
“It is absolutely fantastic to have this event come to Christchurch, where we are rightly becoming known as New Zealand's cycling city.“
“The decision to base BikeNZ's premier event in the city is acknowledgement of the city's commitment to the sport and our support for elite events like this one, the course will provide spectacular spectator points, taking in centre city streets and the hill climbs of the Port Hills."
- Bob Parker
“It’s great the event will take in some centre city racing. Finishing in the centre of New Zealand’s 3rd largest city will bring cycling directly to the people of Christchurch. With the event being held in a large city, it will attract an even higher quality of cyclist. “
